I was digging through some old recordings of ours searching for material to put up in the Archon-Z-Alpha section and I stumbled upon this old recording of us performing live on a friend’s radio show, Strange Frequencies, on CKMS Radio Waterloo (which is now called Sound FM) on June 22nd, 2007

A cover version of Smother Hope by Skinny Puppy was a regular part of our live set back then, and I’ve decided to snip it out of the recording and post it here on the main page for your enjoyment.

Skinny Puppy is obviously a very important band to the members of this band, so we not only tried to do an accurate version of the song, but we also always had a lot of fun with it.

Hello Everybody!

I figured it was time to start up an official, central blog on our website.
Blogs make things more personal…interesting…Intersonal.

And, seeing as how I’m a Doctor (unofficially) I’m prescribing to you, our fans/lurkers/robots, a healthy dose of ridiculism, fantationalism, and weirdnessicity.
All of which will be contained here, within the walls of our “ROBOBLOG”

Yes, fancy name…I know.

Ok, so let’s get down to business, shall we?

Our latest album, Invasion of the Robot Brains From Planet Zero, was released almost a month ago and already we’re receiving some stellar reviews from a variety of European magazines. (mostly German, but also some French, and Spanish too)
In fact, I just got word from a magazine in the UK that is interested in doing an interview with us.
Exciting!

On a website related note, we have some demos, remixes, and unreleased material in the Archon-Z-Alpha section.
All you have to do is email us at info@defencemechanism.ca and ask for the password to unlock the wonderful Lost Songs of Archon-Z-Alpha.
Once you’ve done that you are free to download, and share the songs we’ve posted.
And in the future, more and more glorious songs will be uploaded for your downloading pleasure.

The bigger and more grand our internet presence is, the better.

But we are currently looking into pressing a limited North American release on CD, as well as making the album available at a variety of your favourite download locations.
We will let everyone know what the album becomes available to our fellow North Americans.

Alright, it looks like my time here is up for now.
I must return to my lab, as right now I’m trying to figure out a way to drill a hole through one ear and out the next, and install some blue LED’s.

We have finally located some of the Lost Songs of Archon-Z-Alpha and have put them up (in the Archon-Z-Alpha section) on the website.

The area is password protected so you’ll have to email us at INFO@DEFENCEMECHANISM.CA to retrieve the password.
The songs within are free to download and keep and listen to at your leisure.

We will update the page on a montly basis as we uncover more rarities, unreleased goodies, and sticks of audio dynamite.

My bad!

Truth be told, I have polyps on my vocal chords and not only must I refrain from singing, but I also have to remain pretty much silent for at least a week.

It’s not fun.

Anyhow, on to brighter things.

Our new album, Invasion Of The Robot Brains From Planet Zero, will officially be released throughout the European Union on July 1st.
Only one week from today.

Obviously the whole band eagerly awaits the release of the album as it was quite the undertaking to record in the amount of time we had available.
Not only that, but we’re also proud of our music, and we’re fans of sharing such things with as many people as possible.
Now I’m sure that would bring up the question “then why don’t you just give the album away for free?!?!”

And my answer to that would be “Because we don’t want to.”

That isn’t to say that you don’t appreciate and respect our fans…we just believe that the album, as a whole entity is something that people will WANT to pay for.

That said, very shortly we will have PLENTY of free stuff available on our website. (In the Archon-Z-Alpha section)

Loads of remixes, and remix KITS available for absolutely FREE>

And once the wheels of our Train of Strange get rolling we’ll have a plethora (yes, plethora) of merch, special edition recordings, posters, sticker, and a bunch of other feisty gack available.

Now, I’d love to write more but…well, I’m hungry, and I have a bunch of noodles waiting to be eaten.

After 15 consecutive cups of spiked coffee, and a bunch of sketches of robots having sex with other robots, and a mind shatteringly fast game of Foosball we all came to the executive decision that JULY 1st would be the best day to release the album.

Now, as for a North American release, in the physical sense, well…we’re not sure.
You see…people in North America have proven that buying CD’s isn’t really anything they’re very interested in doing anymore.

So we’re looking at our digital options….and more pictures of robots having sex with other robots.

Anyways, more on that as it develops.

Now, I know that I had mentioned a number of times before that I was going to make remix kits available to the general public, and YES I still am.

We’re going to have an EYES ONLY remix kit section on this here website where you can sign up and have access to whichever track, or tracks you so desire.
And there will be a handy-dandy Upload section for you to upload your mixes for us to here.

And maybe something else too. heh.

ALSO, because you simply enjoy our fans so much we’re going to have a section on this here trusty website where you can (yet again) sign up and gain access to a whole slew of unreleased songs, covers, and rare live recordings from our history as a band.
